Picture Editing

Picture Editing Level One introduces you to the basic skills of editing pictures.
Picture Editing Level Two follows on, making use of multi-layer image editing that allows you to build up a picture with several component images, text and drawn shapes.
These courses are for users of laptop and desktop computers that have a modern version of Microsoft Windows.

Duration and cost of the course

  • There are 5 two-hour lessons.

  • Create a filing system for storing images
  • Open a photo and image editing program (e.g. FastStone)
  • Open a photo in that program
  • Save the picture under a different file name
  • Adjust the brightness, colour and contrast of an image
  • Rotate and flip images
  • Straighten the horizon
  • Crop and resize images
  • Add text to an image
  • Use the Clone tool to remove or repair defects
  • Save the newly edited picture
  • Make a self-running slideshow

  • Use the rotate, zoom and pan tool to alter proportions
  • Add text, using shadow effects
  • Sharpen and blur edges within pictures
  • Combine features of one photo in another
  • Create an “out of bounds” picture
  • Change the colour of just one part of a photo
  • Add a new sky to a photo
