General Information

Who we are

Tauranga SeniorNet Club Inc. is a voluntary, non-profit organisation for senior adults and is a member of the New Zealand Federation of SeniorNet Societies. Through the Federation, we can share ideas and expertise electronically via Senior Hangouts with SeniorNet clubs in other parts of New Zealand. This is aimed at maintaining a high standard of service to members and bringing them the latest developments in technology.

What we do

An annual subscription to the club offers its members the opportunity to learn technical skills in a friendly and enjoyable way both in person at the club or online so that they may use their electronic devices effectively. We aim to help add quality of life for our members by enabling them to communicate electronically more easily with others and make new friends as they learn about computer technology.

The club’s friendly environment is where seniors help seniors to make the most of their numerous electronic devices – computers, laptops, tablets, iPads, or phones.

Lessons are held during school terms for an additional small fee which is paid at the time of enrolling for a course. Online banking may be used and EFTPOS is available at the Clubrooms.

SeniorNet Coaches are volunteers, often passing on skills which they themselves learnt at SeniorNet. They give their time freely to help members achieve their goals. They are not professionally trained or qualified teachers. Rather, they guide and assist members, each of them having different interests and skills. They endeavour to be as helpful as possible, having faced the same situations that you may face in mastering modern electronic gadgetry. It is our philosophy for members to help each other, and in doing so, continue to learn.

All events are held at the Tauranga SeniorNet Clubrooms on 17th Avenue and are based on computer activities which help you learn skills and then give you practice in using them.

What we don’t do

We do not provide a repair service for devices.

We do not provide a service for installing new software.

We do not provide a service to transfer files (such as photos) from one device to another. If you attend one of our How do I…? drop-in sessions, we will show you how to do it but we do not have the time or resources to complete those sorts of projects.
